Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already among us, also among companies and their internaloperations and processes, demanding profound transformations. The possibilities of this technology are multiple, …Infinite..? also in the supply chain: demand planning, process and lead time optimization, quality control, can benefit from the advantages of AI, including AI-Generative.
It offers great capacity to analyze and process huge amounts of data (text, numbers, calculations, graphs, images...) in minimum time, .. in real time), prepare summaries, reports, .. risks, and recommendations, ... answer all questions, wishes and needs – and with the convenient, rapid use of voice, sparing us from dedicating huge material and human resources and time to search online looking for information, reading it, analyzing it, ordering it, studying it to get the knowledge to allow finding solutions to meet the needs, in areas such as:
- Demand planning; search and selection of suppliers, automate negotiation processes with suppliers: quotes, review of available information on them, analysis and comparison of contractual terms and conditions, select proposals - so that the manager-person, decides.
- Optimize logistics: Although many companies have been using AI for years – e.g. picking equipment and routes,or plotting the most efficient delivery routes for carriers – they can now count on more personalized AI, with a conversational interface; Road, rail, air, maritime safety, critical infrastructures; Verification of authenticity of legal and technical documentation of the goods.
- Improve production processes: e.g., predictive maintenance, to identify machines or process lines that are mostlikely to fail, facilitating on-time maintenance with less machine downtime.
- Labour relations: Monitoring ofdecisions in the employment contract life cycle.
Faced withthe overwhelming offer of AI tools, it is advisable to act carefully, without being dragged by the turmoil, or overinvest just for FOM (Fear of Missing Out), and define the strategy, identify needs and which are tools that offer the better solutions considering also costs, technical requirements, and impact indifferent areas, in order to adopt them smartly at the right time and takeadvantage of the benefits they offer.
It is essential to have professionals – capable, dedicated expert persons, human beings (!) – : monitoring hiring, and the legal impact of the AI implementationin different areas of the company, the integration into the roles andresponsibilities of each member of the organization. AI is a tool at th eservice of people, .. not the other way around (!)
